Serving Monterey, Salinas and Santa Cruz
If you've run over a pothole or a curb recently and notice your car is pulling to the left or the right, it's an indication the wheels may be misaligned. Misaligned wheels can decrease the life of your tires by causing uneven tread wear. When you bring your car to the Monterey Audi Service Center for a wheel alignment, you'll drive safely on the road, have more control, and increase the life of your vehicle's tires.
Alignment problems occur when the vehicle's suspension and steering systems aren't operating at their correct angles. Wheel alignment is a standard maintenance service that corrects alignment problems by resetting these angles. The service technicians at the Monterey Audi Service Center will adjust the angles of your car, truck, SUV or van's wheels to factory specifications. After your vehicle is properly aligned, it will drive straight, without any pulling. So, visit our new alignment shop for your next wheel alignment.
All Wheel Alignments Are Not The SameÂ
Some people ask us if tire alignment is the same service as wheel alignment. Technically, the correct term for tire alignment is tire balancing. When we balance the tires, we mount the tires and wheels to a special tire balancing machine that spins each wheel and tire so the service technician can measure the imbalance and correct the problem. Both services are often done at the same time.
You can check your owner's manual to find out how frequently the manufacturer recommends getting your vehicle's wheels aligned. In general, it's a good idea to have the wheels aligned after a serious driving incident or whenever you replace steering or suspension components.
When you bring your car to the Monterey Audi Service Department for standard wheel alignment service, our certified technicians will use the most advanced computer technology to measure the vehicle's camber, caster and toe. The technician will modify these angles to match the manufacturer's specifications, ensuring a smooth ride, even tire wear, and optimum fuel economy. Our service technicians will also inspect and adjust the suspension system, front and rear steering, tire wear, tire air pressure and overall tire condition.
How To Determine If You Need A Wheel AlignmentÂ
Don't ignore misaligned wheels. If your vehicle's wheels are misaligned, your car won't drive straight, which can be dangerous. It can also create several tire problems, including:Â
·        Cup Wear: The tire has cupped dips around the edge of the tread on the inside or the outside. This is the result of worn-out or bent suspension parts.
·        One-side Wear: The inner or outer ribs of the tire wear out faster than the rest of the tire. This is caused by excessive camber.
·        Feathering: The inner or outer edge of the tire is worn out. Each tread rib has a rounded edge on one side and a sharp edge on the other side. This is the result of an incorrect toe.
